- Multi-faith discussion:
- Looking at society through a human lens as opposed to an ideological one. Hosted by Ebrahim Rasool of the World for All Foundation with multi-faith guests on panel. The discussion will be exploring the paradigm of how to go beyond the labels frequently used to escape inter-faith engagement in a world bedeviled with various extremisms.

- 11:00 - 12:15pm: Lecture Theatre 1: (Seminar) Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad (Cambridge): Ten Centuries Later: Imam al-Ghazali, the Global Village, and the Quest for Moral and Spiritual Balance. [Abstract: In this paper Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad examines Imam al-Ghazali's (d.1111CE) ethical philosophy and its relevance to the modern world. Within this ethical paradigm two related aspects receive special attention. One, an outline of Imam al-Ghazali's spiritual practices; and two, an exposition of four key components that informed Ghazalian thought viz. the heart, the ego, the spiritual guide, and the nature of mystical experience.

- 11:45 - 1:00pm Main Hall: Book Session 3: Dr Salie Abrahams' (IPSA) presentation of the book: Tales from Five Continents: the 19th century Travel Journals of Hajee Shah Mahomed (published by Dome and IPSA 2008). Shah Mahomed's detailed and descriptive travel diaries lay untouched for over 100 years before being "rediscovered" by his great-grandson Prof Faadiel Essop.
